The Age of the Slasher!

This is the age of the Slash worker or 'Slasher', people, particularly young people, who look to diversify their income and experiences away from a single profession and single employer. Instead, they look at building up a range of career opportunities based on their interests and skills.

It is easy to dream, but not always easy to turn dreams into reality. And so, this alternative path to professional success requires know-how and balance to make it work.

Supported by The Community Chest, the HKFYG Youth Employment Network has launched SLASH POINT, a one-stop platform for young people who are interested in looking to become a slasher. By joining the SLASH POINT, they will learn about what they need to know, as they receive multi-dimensional employment support from the Federation and partners. All this helps them improve their opportunities as they construct valid career plans and get ready for pursuing them.

SLASH POINT consists of four main components, entitled Slash-semble, Slash Level-up, Slash Internship and Slash Expo. A series of hybrid events will be offered where participants will be given opportunities to build their career portfolio and business networks. Slash-semble is a personal branding workshop that allows young people to enhance their professional and personal characteristics. Participants can also attend Slash Level-up training classes for useful tips on financial planning, taxation and IT applications among other business necessities. For those who are interested in becoming slashers, they can attend the Slash Internship for hands-on work experience to learn from real world cases. Finally, slashers will be able to sign up for Slash Expos to demonstrate their talents and build networks with potential employers.

We welcome all partners and institutions to join us, working together to support young people achieving career success.
