Building Hope and Harmony

We don’t often think that young people can take an active role in making changes in the lives of their families. We especially don’t think like this when it concerns those from economically disadvantaged homes. And yet...

In spite of all the pressures on these families, beyond the mental and physical wellbeing issues; beyond living environments and estranged relationships; beyond long working hours and constant financial worries, we believe that young people do have the power to make a difference!

So, with the generous support of Rosewood Hotel Group, we have launched Project Family Resilience Plus, which aims to assist young people in developing harmonious relationships among family members, as well as improving the living environment of the whole family.

From April 2022 to January 2023, 100 secondary school students from deprived families will be nominated to join this project. After online training sessions to improve communication and learn video-making skills, each student will be given a HK$5,000 subsidy to improve the well-being or living conditions of their families according to their needs.

They will then be required to submit a simple showcase in video format to present the comparison of "before and after". Ten outstanding projects will be awarded a family staycation at a hotel from within the Rosewood Hotel Group, with meals and health improvement workshops offered. The winners will also be invited to share their life stories in sharing sessions at the end of the project.

We know that this project cannot address all the challenges that the disadvantaged face. But we also know that every positive step is still a step in the right direction, offering hope and building harmony.

How can you help to make a difference?
