Intergenerational Connectedness

The accelerating pace of aging in Hong Kong is throwing up numerous challenges, including the need for intergenerational connectedness.

With the generous support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Federation launched the Inter-generation H.E.Y. Hub (H.E.Y. stands for 'Harmony', 'Elderly' and 'Youth'), a three-year project where young people engage the elderly to promote wellness in Shatin District.

Starting from May 2022, "Laughing Yoga", "Stand-up Comedy", "Clown and Magic Show" and "Community Art Activities" will be held regularly for the elderly to help improve their intellectual, cognitive and physical abilities. There will also be a "Community Daai Daat Dei (Bazaar)" where life stories will be shared, and for different generations to learn from experiences of each other.

Youth volunteers will be recruited and trained to help implement the project. Other activities will include, designing plug-in applications and co-creating virtual activities for the elderly and the community. Together, all these events will not only build up intergenerational understanding, but also help strengthen neighbourly relationships.

Help us let young people take the lead in building up intergenerational connectedness!
