Stepping Forward with Commitment

Hong Kong has faced some incredible challenges that have had a serious impact on both the economy and people's livelihoods. While there might not be a quick fix to these problems, we believe that young people can take an active role in re-building society, as they thoughtfully and innovatively think of new ideas for the city's future.

Therefore, the new organised Stepping Forward with Commitment to Hong Kong, will aim to replenish the city's store of positive energy by giving a boost to young people's commitment. Beginning in June, a series of recovery programmes focusing on the development of the community, economy and the Greater Bay Area will be launched.

To boost community development, 10,000 young people from HKFYG's NEIGHBOURHOOD First Programme will be mobilised to enhance community-based public health, support community networks and beautify neighbourhoods and their surrounding environment. There will also be a "What do you want for our city?" competition, enabling the young people to explore imaginative ways to build an ideal city.

With regard to enhancing economic development, more than 1,000 young people will be engaged to provide advice, exchange views, offer good ideas and practical solutions, demonstrate professionalism, and enrich the local economy in financial innovation, elderly care, housing, sustainable development and cultural and creative industries. There will also be a competition to diagnose areas of challenge in Hong Kong.

Furthermore, study programmes and internship opportunities will be provided to give young people a more in-depth understanding of the Greater Bay Area, so that they can get equipped with the skills and attitudes required to work in the region.

Let's join hands together to support our young people to open up new horizons for Hong Kong!
