From Poverty to Prosperity
According to the World Bank, over the past four decades, it is estimated that China has lifted close to 800 million out of global extreme poverty. This staggering figure fits well into the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as China's first Centennial Goal. How can this remarkable achievement be better appreciated by young people? By giving them the opportunity to learn more about China's historical, economic and social development.
Since 2011, the Federation has organised "China Week" which encourages young people to understand and engage with Chinese culture and history. This year, the focus will be on analysing and reflecting on the country's poverty alleviation efforts.
From June to July, a wide range of activities will be available, including film screenings and seminars, experiential learning camps and voluntary services, along with a quiz competition, where the winners will be sponsored on a field trip to Qingyuan, where they can have first hand experience of rural life.
This is an opportunity for learning and experiencing a completely different way of life should not be missed. Join China Week and see for yourself!
