Taking Action for a Greener Tomorrow

Hong Kong's first-ever online decarbonisation platform exclusively for youth is jointly being launched by ICBC (Asia) Charitable Foundation and the Sustainability Unit of the Federation. What does this entail?

The "Youth Decarbonisation Platform" initiative aims to gather and encourage 1,000 young people annually to practise ten major types of decarbonisation behaviour in their daily lives. These include, clothing, food, housing, and transportation, all of which are closely related to the lives of young people. This effort promotes their participation in climate action and sustainable development, with an expected annual reduction of one million kilogrammes of carbon emissions.

The campaign also includes a registration system for schools, allowing teachers and students to collectively record their carbon reduction actions in daily life, which will be converted into opportunities to participate in environmental activities, enabling continuous learning in environmental education and giving back to society.

To kick off the exciting programme, over 100 students and representatives from environmental organisations participated in the ceremony and youth forum titled "Dialogue with Youth - Working Together for Carbon Neutrality", contributing ideas on achieving carbon neutrality in Hong Kong and advocating for environmental education. Feedback collected during the forum will be conveyed to the Environment and Ecology Bureau, ensuring that youth voices are heard and integrated into the sustainable development blueprint.

Register now and be a part of this pioneering movement towards a sustainable future! Together, let's make a difference and create a greener and more sustainable world for generations to come.
