Igniting Artistic Passion

If your passion was art, wouldn’t you also just at the chance to express yourself either through Chinese or Western painting? Well, thanks to an amazing opportunity, the Federation will once again be hosting the Hong Kong regional competition of the Xu Beihong Cup International Arts Competition for Youth & Children 2024.

For the 9th year, the Federation, with the authorisation of Renmin University of China Xu Beihong School of Arts, in conjunction with the Xu Beihong Arts Committee and Xu Beihong Arts Association, we will be inviting young people, from kindergarten to senior secondary school, to show off their talents and creativity.

The famed artist, Xu Beihong, was renowned for his profound artistic ideals and relentless pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty, and these values serve as the inspiration for the competition. Participants can enter their work in three categories: Chinese paintings, Western paintings and a special category on “Hundred Family Surnames".

Winners will be honoured with certificates of recognition, and there will be an exciting opportunity for their artwork to be featured in a prestigious art book scheduled for release in late 2024. The awards ceremony and exhibition, scheduled to take place in Hong Kong in July 2024, will provide an exceptional platform for the winners to showcase their extraordinary artworks to a diverse audience.

Together, let us encourage, inspire, support, and uplift all the young artists in Hong Kong!

Deadline 31 January 2024

Warmth in Their Hearts: Youth Volunteers Bring Comfort to Those in Need
On 15 December, the HKFYG "NEIGHBOURHOOD First" youth volunteers provided winter supplies to elderly individuals living alone and underprivileged children.

Last month, more than 150 young volunteers made calls to over 860 underprivileged households and discovered that the most common issue faced during cold weather was insufficient warm clothing (19.4%), followed by the need for additional heating equipment at home (15.7%). Many elderly individuals also experienced difficulties in purchasing essential items during the cold weather (10.1%), and over 63.9% expressed the need for or welcomed phone calls from volunteers to better understand their needs
