Pushing Limits and Discovering Inner Strength

Running is all about pushing limits and perseverance. Runners embark on a transformative journey, discovering their strength and resilience, testing their abilities to overcome challenges.

The Federation partnered with GigaSports, the subsidiary sports retail chain under Swire Resources Limited, to organise the Dragon's Back Trail Run 2024 on 13th February, with the aim to promote the holistic development of young people through trail running.

Ten young runners, who had undergone three months of professional training with renowned runner Tse Kok-wai, bravely took on the Dragon's Back trail within Shek O Country Park. Despite facing obstacles, the runners completed the demanding 8.5-kilometre course in 1 hour and 12 minutes, encouraging each other every step of the way. The accomplishment is especially rewarding to youth with disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them hope and confidence.

In the initial stage of the event, 23 underprivileged youth people aged 15 to 18 participated in a three-week training programme. 18 runners were chosen to undergo an intensive two-month training programme. In addition, they attended a "Leave No Trace" workshop, where they learned the importance of respecting and preserving nature while enjoying their runs. Participants also engaged in volunteer activities, including distributing supplies to the homeless in the Sham Shui Po district, giving back to the community.

As a community, let us rally behind these aspiring young people, supporting their pursuit of excellence. Together, we can nurture their talent, provide them with opportunities, and empower them to reach even greater heights!
