Youth Explorers: Bridging Cultures
In a rapidly globalising world, youth play a pivotal role in shaping cultural exchange, fostering understanding, and driving innovation, bridging diverse communities to create a more interconnected and vibrant future.
The Federation has launched "Himalayan Heritage": Nepal's Sustainable Journey, an enriching project for youth aged 18 to 35. This initiative, funded by the Youth Development Commission under the Funding Scheme for International Youth Exchange, aims to immerse participants in Nepal's vibrant culture while addressing its development challenges through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
What makes this more exciting is the long and supportive connection that the Nepalese community has had in Hong Kong since the 1960s, and who now form nearly four per cent of the ethnic minority population in the city today.
From 21 to 30 December 2024, 30 participants will have the opportunity to explore various aspects of Nepalese life. Highlights include visiting the Chinese Embassy to learn about collaborative initiatives, volunteering with local young nuns, and touring World Heritage Sites to understand their significance in sustainable tourism. Additionally, participants will stay with villagers, gaining firsthand experience of rural culture, and engage in discussions with founders of local social enterprises to explore innovative solutions to community challenges.
Don't miss this chance to support young people's opportunities to deepen their understanding both of the culture of some members of Hong Kong's community, as well as issues of sustainability.
Join us in celebrating the rich heritage of the Himalayas and the path towards a sustainable future, and building up understanding here at home.
