Tell Good Stories of Hong Kong
How does one best promote the city they love? Campaigns work. So do advertisements on normal and social media. But let’s admit it, nothing works better than people in a direct, face-face encounter.
That is what The Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme is all about. For the past 24 years, it has been encouraging young people to share their stories, promote hospitality and showcase their home town’s unique attractions.
Co-organised by The Tourism Commission and the Youth Exchange Unit of the Federation, this year the Scheme will recruit 250 Young Ambassadors. During this programme, the Young Ambassadors will gain in confidence and broaden their horizons, as they learn how to interact with visitors, both local and overseas. At the same time, it encourages visitors to experience a welcoming atmosphere, inviting people to hear first-hand the stories, and to explore the treasures, of Hong Kong.
Through this Scheme, the young participants will learn to highlight Hong Kong's vibrant culture and hospitality through various activities, including being stationed at popular local attractions, including Ocean Park Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Tourism Board Visitor Centres. They will also participate in large-scale events celebrating festivals, traditional culture, arts, sports, and outdoor activities, creating an immersive experience for everyone.
Participants will undergo core skills training sessions and engage in diverse tourism-related volunteer services. The Scheme targets full-time students aged 15 to 25 as of 1 July 2025, fostering a new generation of passionate ambassadors ready to ignite the spirit of hospitality within the community. Young Ambassadors who perform outstandingly will be awarded and nominated to participate in the Volunteer Award Scheme, as well as to participate in exchange activities outside Hong Kong.
Please support the Young Ambassadors as well as the growth of the local tourism industry! Nothing beats the personal touch!
