Sharing an Invisible Burden

How heavy was your backpack when you were a student? So heavy that you couldn't walk upright, and were either tipping backwards or hunched over to ensure that nothing fell out?  Imagine that actual backpack is now accompanied by an overstuffed metaphorical one, filled with demands, pressures and expectations. What is not imagination is that these burdens have now resulted in a mental health emergency, which needs addressing now!

This is the purpose of The HKFYG Run for Wellness, which has engaged over 12,000 people over the last five years to address youth mental health. Participants carry backpacks throughout the race to visually represent the heavy, invisible burdens, stress and anxieties carried by Hong Kong's youth. This action symbolises our community's commitment to sharing their burden.

The Run this year is scheduled for Sunday, 14 December 2025, under the theme 'Stepping Out and Show Your Attitude' and will take place at the Tseung Lam Highway Garden in Tseung Kwan O. The event will feature races for all fitness levels, from a 1km Family Run, and 5km and 10km Individual Races, along with a 10km Team Race. Along the race track, we'll host a  dynamic Wellness Carnival, offering exciting activities that promote holistic emotional healing.

The emotional, physical and psychological health of young people is a key concern for the Federation. Join us in demonstrating that you and your organisation are ready to strap on a backpack. The burden is heavy. Share their load.
