Heritage Alive
As Hong Kong's urban landscape evolves, the tension between modernisation and cultural preservation remains a focal point for the city's development. How can heritage be preserved and how can young people play a part in transforming memory into a living entity?
With the support of the GBA Homeland Youth Community Foundation, the Federation's Social Innovation and Youth Business Unit has launched Heritage Alive: Cultural Innovation Project.
This is a unique initiative that asks Form 3 to Form 5 students to make heritage alive by engaging them in a comprehensive journey into social entrepreneurship through five immersive stages. Participants begin with intensive workshops on design thinking, branding, and pitching before heading into different parts of Hong Kong, including Central, Sham Shui Po, and Yau Ma Tei to document local heritage through field observations and photography. And with this information, the students then design sustainable "Cultural IPs".
The experience extends to the highlight of the programme which is a three-day GBA Heritage x Creative Tour across Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou to gain cross-border inspiration. With their designs in place, they will present their ideas in a final showcase to experts and network with HKFYG startup teams to turn their creative projects into reality through event visuals, character mascots, unique cultural souvenirs, and curated community tours.
This is more than a preservation project, but an investment of the city's cultural capital. Join us as we empower a new generation of youth to co-create the future of our city's identity!
