Turning a Breaking Point into a Turning Point

What would you do if you were just a heartbeat away from a criminal record? Would you find the courage to start again?

Jam once struggled with peer pressure and academic difficulties. Joining boxing gave him structure and a different way to prove himself. Over time, he progressed from novice to school team captain and later represented Hong Kong in international competitions. Now, he and other awardees serve as Youth Power Ambassadors, sharing their experiences in schools and communities and demonstrating the power of “life influencing life”.

On 13 June 2026, with the support of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the HKFYG Youth Crime Prevention Centre held The Turning Point 2026 - Youth Improvement Award Ceremony. Graced by the Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, the ceremony celebrated the extraordinary resilience of 12 remarkable young individuals who were recognised for steering their lives back on track, backed by families, teachers, social workers, and community partners.

Their stories show that with someone to stand beside them, a breaking point can become a turning point and that no young person should be written off too soon.
