HKFYG Sparks Tech Futures
As the National 15th Five-Year Plan and Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis vision converge, Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaboration in innovation and technology is entering a transformative new era.
At the forefront of this momentum, and with generous support from the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, the Qianhai-Hong Kong Youth Tech Pioneer Programme has officially launched. The initiative is organised by the Qianhai Authority and the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and co-organised by the HKFYG and Qianhai International Liaison Services and Investment Co., Ltd., bringing together government, industry and cross-sector partners to inspire and nurture future tech pioneers.
As the first regular exchange programme connecting Hong Kong students with Qianhai’s technology sectors, it offers structured, sustained exposure to emerging technologies, industrial environments, and real-world applications at the heart of the Greater Bay Area.
Built around a high-impact experiential model, the programme features immersive experiences, structured learning, and direct access to a network of innovation partners, including Insta360, LAiPIC, B.Duck, LimX Dynamics, and CASETiFY. Later this year, 1,000 students aged 14 to 18 will visit cutting-edge laboratories, innovation hubs, and key industrial sites, including the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub. Together, they will explore the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Embodied Intelligence, the Low-Altitude Economy, and Cultural & Creative Arts.
Through this first-hand immersion, participants will discover new pathways towards further studies, internships, careers, and entrepreneurial ventures in innovation and technology.

Scaling Carbon Reduction with the Youth Decarbonisation Platform
Aims at inspiring students to turn everyday choices into lasting climate action, proving that small actions can scale to drive sustained impact through school-based initiatives and digital tracking through Youth Decarbonisation Platform

Project Greenovator: Driving Sustainable Innovation
Aims at enhancing students' understanding of sustainable development and equipping them with innovative problem-solving skills
Activities include
● Cross-curricular experiential activities: Experiencing various fields including science, technology, and environmental protection to learn about sustainable development; learning presentation skills, as well as tools like generative AI to assist in project proposals
● Cross-curricular visits to corporates: Visiting different local corporate stakeholders to understand Hong Kong's sustainable development progress, engage with industry professionals, and learn about the challenges and opportunities in implementing these initiatives
● Sustainable development blueprint pitching: Presenting sustainable development plans in groups, analysing current sustainability issues within their schools or communities, and presenting innovative and feasible solutions on the Proposal Sharing Day

Results on the HKFYG uTouch "2026 Youth Loneliness Survey"
Key findings
● 83.7% of respondents experience moderate to high levels of loneliness—a sharp increase from the 47.7% recorded five years ago during the pandemic
● According to the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), nearly 60% of respondents show signs of mental distress
● The top three causes of loneliness were: "Others do not understand my situation or feelings" (50.7%), "Reduced time spent with friends due to academic, work, or other pressures" (36.8%), and "I have no one to confide in" (36.6%)
Major recommendations
● Society must heed young people’s desire for deeper bonds, while encouraging them to embrace "active solitude"—turning alone time into a meaningful opportunity for self-discovery
● Youths are encouraged to participate in deep-exchange activities or community volunteer services to build more connected, supportive interpersonal networks
● If emotional distress becomes overwhelming, young people should proactively seek professional youth counseling services
