Ready for the Spotlight
When young people are given the chance to try, learn and grow, their potential can surprise even them.
At the HKFYG’s UP SHOWCASE 2026, young people from across our 21 Youth S.P.O.Ts took to the stage and shared what they had achieved through months of training, practice and perseverance.
These programmes achieve far more than technical proficiency; they cultivate essential life skills. Witnessing reserved young people transform into expressive, self-assured individuals is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve with the right support.
- Building Resilience and Leadership: Hei-chit, 11, began learning karate at his local Youth S.P.O.T. when he was younger. Today, he holds a black belt and represents the Hong Kong Karate Feeder Team. Just as importantly, he now encourages and mentors younger participants, showing how confidence and discipline can inspire others.
- Overcoming Shyness to Shine: Yu-tung, 11, once found performing in front of others daunting. With steady encouragement from her instructors, she progressed from small practice routines to performing K-pop dance confidently on a large stage.
UP SHOWCASE 2026 was a celebration of young people becoming more confident, expressive and ready to take on new challenges. It was also a reminder that training is about more than building skills: it helps young people discover their voice, believe in their potential and find their place in a wider community.
Let's keep turning untapped potential into unstoppable futures!
