Wise media use

The internet is part of everyday life and awareness of its treasures and traps is crucial. This awareness involves skills that can be learned at school and at home, so the HKFYG Media Counselling Centre professionals have created an award-winning project to equip media literate young people today.

BeNetWise, a Gold Award-winner this month in the Wofoo Asian Award for Advancing Family Well-Being, is a school-based wellness project. It has developed a value-based curriculum to encourage respect, justice, empathy and caring through a critical understanding of media messages. Internet culture, including security and crime, are covered and it is designed for youth, parents and teachers.
